Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band, created by Dan Bejar. Bejar is also one of the key members in The New Pornographers. Destroyer produces very relaxing and scenic songs such as "Time Square". Bejar has a very unique and recognizable singing style. While not quite as good as his album Kaputt, his newest album Poison Season is a fantastic display of poetic writing and jazzy sounds. The band pulls from many different influences for this album, thus Poison Season isn't the same sound as Kaputt. However, Bejar's particular vocal style of talk singing remains. This style is so very soothing and pairs so well with the band's calm, jazzy vibe. Bejar states the album's sound originated from "just really getting into what we were sounding like playing live" following the release of Kaputt. The track "Archer on the Beach" starts off with a synced sax and a deep bass guitar. As the song progresses, a piano joins in, creating a powerful trio.
