Arcade Fire is an iconic Canadian indie rock band and was founded in 2001 by classmates Win Butler and Josh Deu. Over the years Arcade Fire has snowballed into one of the most well known indie bands. Their critically acclaimed debut album, Funeral, had launched them into the music scene spotlight. The name for the album was given due to the deaths of several relatives of band members while the album was being recorded. For that album, Arcade Fire received the Juno Award for Songwriters Of The Year for three tracks from Funeral: "Wake Up", "Rebellion (Lies)", and "Neighborhood No. 3 (Power Out)". The song "Wake Up" has been featured in commercials, movies, you name it; and for good reason. The chorus in the background of the track adds a strange sense of youth and community while evoking feelings of nostalgia and inspiration. The track "Neighborhood No. 3 (Power Out)" is one of their best songs period. The song incorporates various tempos and a wide range of instruments. Pitchfork Media ranked the album No. 2 in their list of the top 200 albums of the 2000s, behind Radiohead's Kid A, when they put together their list for the decade.
